Anyone (student or staff) discovering an outbreak of fire should straight away break the glass in the nearest fire alarm.

On hearing the alarm, you should stand behind your desks when instructed by the teacher.  You should leave the classroom in single file and follow the teacher via the nearest exit route that is safe.

Time should not be wasted collecting bags or coats.

There myst be silence at all times so that instructions can be heard.

On staircases, you should go down in single file.  There should be no overtaking.

In the Main classroom block, once the fire alarm has gone, students should use either of the staircases.  Use the nearest staircase for the whole class.

If you are not in class when the alarm sounds (you could be in the lavatories, on a corridor etc.), then please go out to the assembly points on the yard via the nearest fire exit that is safe.

No one must go back into any building without the direct permission of the Headteacher.

In your class assembly position on the yard, strict silence must be maintained.  Year 7 line up on the yard nearest to the staff car park, with each consecutive year group lining up further along the yard, finishing with Year 11 just past the gates to the sports building.

We can all leave the building quickly and safely if we follow a few simple rules.

In an emergency a special alarm will sound. This is different from the daily lesson bell.

You then –

STOP

whatever you are doing.

LEAVE

the classroom in silence when instructed to do so by your teacher.

GO

to the Assembly Point by the safest possible route. There you will…
