“…to at justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

Religious Education is a core subject at St Joseph’s. The RE Department strives to promote the best possible teaching and learning of curriculum RE. Pupils receive three lessons of Religious Education in Year 7 on a mixed ability form basis. All pupils follow the Salford Diocesan Syllabus. This consists of a variety of programmes of study. The programmes, plus the lesson content are given to each pupil to allow them to follow the syllabus e.g. Creation, Prayer, Stewardship. A high standard of work is expected. The pupils’ level throughout the year will be assessed on classwork, homework, oral contribution, assessment tasks and an end of POS test. At the end of the year there is a formal examination. A variety of teaching and learning styles are used.

Pupils enjoy RE. “The curriculum RE provided for pupils in St Joseph’s contributes in no small way to their outstanding academic achievement and spiritual and moral development.” (Section 48, Ofsted Inspection 2010).
