KS3 Syllabus

During their drama lessons Key Stage 3 students will be encouraged to work cooperatively in groups of varying sizes to prepare and present pieces of improvised and scripted drama. They will learn drama conventions and will be expected to read a variety of material, work in role and use the appropriate voice, movement and gesture. They will learn about drama from different times and cultures and use thinking skills to construct drama.

Students in Year 7 do not study Drama independently but instead study our Creative Curriculum, which incorporates ICT, Drama, Art, Music and Design & Technology.  The aim of this was to break down subject barriers and allow students to learn in respective subjects in a way which will enrich their understanding and allow the subjects to complement each other.  The Express Days also allow Year 7 to settle into secondary education as they work together as a form group with a particular teacher throughout the day, supplementing the fantastic transition scheme we have here at St. Joseph’s.
