KS4 Syllabus

Through a variety of activities the Art team aims to help all our students reach their full potential. We encourage a sense of enquiry about the visual world we all live in, help students express themselves through art and design and introduce students to the contribution that art, craft and design has made to the world. The subject offers opportunities for our students to develop their own creativity and produce something that is completely unique and personal.

Students in Year 7 don’t study Art as a solitary subject but study our Creative Curriculum, which incorporates ICT, Drama, Art, Music and Design & Technology.  The aim of this was to break down subject barriers and allow students to learn in respective subjects in a way which will enrich their understanding and allow the subjects to complement each other.  The Express Days also allow Year 7 to settle into secondary education as they work together as a form group with a particular teacher throughout the day, supplementing the fantastic transition scheme we have here at St. Joseph’s.
