Intervention:

The Department of Mathematics has an intervention programme in all years at present where small groups of pupils have intensive catch ups on topics they are struggling with. This generally will be with our TA4, but some Year 11 intervention groups take place with Maths Teachers.

There are some bucket list intervention groups, running after school for Year 11 on a Monday evening and Y8 on a Thursday to ensure pupils are ready for the start of the GCSE in Y9.

Strategies are put in place at every level to monitor a child’s progress. This includes:

– Analysis after tests and exams to identify underachievers. RAG sheets will be available in your child’s book after each exam and you can support at home by using Mathswatch to plug these skills gaps.

– Targeted revision prior to exams using ‘Mathswatch’

– Intervention in the Spring term for Yr11 as is needed following mock exams.

Of course, reports and parents evenings are very informative for all students and parents. Telephone conversations where necessary will be instigated by Miss Finch or meetings will be made as appropriate
