Enrichment

The Department of Mathematics holds several enrichment programmes for our able, gifted and talented students to allow them to fulfil their potential.

Year 5/6

Pupils from feeder primary schools are invited to take part in a team challenge. Aimed at Year 5 and 6 pupils. Some of our students help out at this event.

Year 7

Year 7 pupils will take part in various fun curriculum based maths activities to suit all ages and abilities.

Year 7 Maths puzzle club bucket list activity.

 Year 8

UKMT Maths Challenge

Year 8 Junior Challenge

Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates are available – a fantastic achievement for future CVs and applications to College, University and employment.

The best candidates in the region will be invited to take part in a national competition.

Year 8/9

Team Challenge

Pupils in mixed teams of Yr8/9 take part in a competition against other schools in the region.

Year 10

UKMT Maths Challenge

Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates are available – a fantastic achievement for future CVs and applications to College, University and employment.

The best candidates in the region will be invited to take part in a national competition.

Year 11

Teams are chosen from Year 11 Set 1 each year to compete with other secondary schools in the region for prestigious trophies and awards in a Mathematics competition held by Runshaw Sixth Form College in Leyland.

We have previously won this competition and achieved runner up positions too. Students are very interested in the competition as many of our students move on to Runshaw College after their GCSE courses to study A-Levels and Vocational Courses.
